Come Quickly Lord Jesus….

Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour   -

This week I spent time with a father/husband who had the very difficult task of telling his six year daughter and four year old son that their ‘mummy’ was very sick and would not be coming home from hospital. When I was called to meet the young dad at the hospital about conveying this message to his children, my whole being was stunned with facing such a situation. I was quite drained of strength at that moment and uttered no words for some time. Before the phone call and subsequent meeting I had been preparing a funeral service for the grandfather of a police officer who had just passed away. Less than a kilometre away from where we talked with this young man was a family who was at vigil by the bedside of their seriously injured daughter at Princess Margaret Hospital. Not one of these separate events had been planned, no one involved in these difficult situations was absolutely prepared for these situations to occur. But each family member was to face them with all the struggles and tears they brought. This is everyday life in a world that Jesus Christ came to rescue us from. Firstly He came to save us from this world’s curse of sin. Secondly He came to be with us and be with us whilst we are here facing such massive storms so that we would not face them alone. But He also promised to come and deliver us from a world racked with death, pain and sorrow and bring a halt to all these. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away….Come Quickly Lord Jesus – (Rev 21:4,22:20)
