From the pulpit…
Let me ask you a question. What should be taught from the pulpit of every church? You may think this is a silly question or am I being a little whimsical. No, I am asking a very serious question. What should be taught from the pulpit of a church? There are subjects spoken of from pulpits today that I am often simply amazed at that they get a mention let alone time. The Apostle Paul puts in three (3) words the only thing that should be taught from the pulpit of a church…2 Timothy 4:2 Preach the word;…As a Pastor of the flock of God that Jesus Christ has given me responsibility to feed, the sheep for whom Jesus Christ suffered and died. This is the mandate given to every pastor teacher. Each time I step to the pulpit and open God’s holy word I am acutely aware of the responsibility and accountability God has of such a calling. I approach each time with great fear and trembling. But at the same time I have absolute confidence in the power of God’s word and its ability to speak to people’s hearts and transform lives. I have a check statement that I constantly run everything past in the capacity of stepping behind a pulpit to preach or teach. “Would Jesus speak about this…did Jesus speak about this…would Jesus even mention this…?” There is only one answer to my original question. Let us only ever hear God’s word proclaimed from behind the pulpit of God’s church whenever His people are gathered.
