A house of prayer…
After Jesus triumphant entry into the City of Jerusalem, it says that Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers and the seats of them that sold doves. And He said unto them, It is written, “My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.” – Matthew 21:12-13.
Today much happens in church that sadly often reflects what Jesus found in the temple on that amazing day. It seems that there is no end to the ‘novelty’ and ‘marketing’ that occurs in a building ‘built’ to worship Almighty God! As we read Scripture may we learn what God desires for us to do instead of what not to do.
This Wednesday evening, historically the day before Christ’s arrest and crucifixion, let us gather together and have Jesus find CCSH a house of prayer! We have called for Wednesday to be a day of fasting and an evening of prayer. One hour of prayer between 7 and 8 pm. Let us fulfill Scripture the right way – and then we shall see God fulfill His promise to answer such prayer!
