Is Jesus calling you…
And when He thus had spoken, He cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth..John 11:43
As we draw near to Easter I like to read the Gospels and the lead up to the very time that Jesus was about to suffer on a cruel cross and die for all of our sins. The very reason for Jesus coming into our world is drawn to this amazing climax where He is about to be arrested, tried, beaten, mocked, whipped, and then finally nailed to a cross as a common criminal. Yet John gives us a sneak preview of the main event. Jesus is called, but delays His arrival, to the sickness and ultimate death of His good friend Lazarus. When Jesus finally arrives all hope in Mary and Martha has been lost. Lazarus has now been dead and buried for over 4 days. In this passage is recorded the shortest verse in the Bible…Jesus wept! There is so much we do not understand or know about God. But more importantly there is a massive amount that we do know. Here in this beautiful passage of scripture that is filled with pain, sorrow, tears and death a voice speaks like never before..Lazarus come forth! It is in these 3 small words that hope, joy and life erupt..stirring our hearts that death will lose its sting, that the grave will surrender its power. This same Jesus calls to you..let us now all live in newness of life, a life that’s eternal.
