The Day of the Lord…
This week we started our new study in the Book of Joel. I was really excited about this study. Why, because it contained the message, the information that grabbed my attention and brought me to Christ in 1977. The message, Jesus Christ is coming again! Having a right perspective is a major component of a right walk with God. Peter put it so beautifully and succinctly when he wrote, Since everything around us is going to be destroyed like this, what holy and godly lives you should live, 2 Peter 3:11. The way we live reveals what perspective we have on whether we believe Jesus is coming again – soon! A wrong perspective will reveal a person who’s life revolves around the ‘care of this world’. These issues will dominate their personality, their finances, their time and their emotions. However, a person whose perspective is in keeping with Peter’s exhortation will reveal a personality that is loosely attached the affairs of this world and driven to serve the Lord and proclaim the gospel. Their finances, their time and their passion will be focused on eternal matters. Things pertaining to heaven and a life that reflects a loving relationship with God. It’s that simple. It’s that clear. It is this perspective that greets us every new day with the knowledge that Jesus Christ’s return is 24 hours literally closer. That must be the most exciting way to start any day let alone every day! Remember Jesus is coming, God’s judgment will follow the rapture of the Church. Our time here is to be about our Father’s business. For the time is so short.
