God is in control..!!!!!
In the Book of Revelation chapter 1 in verses 9 and 11 a title of Jesus the Son of God is proclaimed by the Apostle John.
This title of Jesus, the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the ending or the first and the last is mentioned twice. (verse 9 & 11).
Why, is the question we should ask in good Bible exegesis?
Firstly, it’s obviously important and a point is being very powerfully made and emphasized by it.
But there is more to this! You and I don’t usually struggle with the Alpha and Omega bits of God in our lives! We can handle and believe that Almighty God created the heavens and the earth and said it was good!
We also have no problem in particular with there being a happy ending for us and our dwelling in heaven. Things will be good.
But where we struggle is the hard time in the middle.
We question God, we struggle with the things we are involved in at the moment and ask God, “Why is this happening to me and where was He when this all started?”
So what does a pastor do? What does John do?
He whispers in peoples ears over and over again, GOD IS IN CONTROL. GOD IS ON THE THRONE.
The same God Who did the work in the beginning, who spoke the world into existence, who saw you being formed in your mothers womb. This same God will come through in the end!
That’s what we must all do.
We must whisper over and over again in the ears of our teenagers, our friends, our neighbours, GOD IS HERE, AND HE IS GOING TO SEE YOU THROUGH…if you will let Him!
