The privilege of worship..
Matthew 27:50 Then Jesus shouted out again, and he released his spirit. 51 At that moment the curtain in the sanctuary of the Temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. At the moment of Jesus death the massive veil that hung in the Temple separating the holy place from the holy of holies was torn in two from the top to the bottom opening up to all the very place where previously on one day a year the high priest would meet with God before the ark of the covenant. Each Sunday as we gather as the body of Christ in church it would be mindful of us to consider and remember the privilege we now all have to meet with God as we do! Do we gather because we feel obligated or do we gather because we will meet up with friends? Whilst I acknowledge the way of worshipping God was changed forever on the day that Jesus Christ was crucified and when that massive veil was torn open, the reverence, glory and importance of gathering to worship Jesus Christ is not to be lost. In other words, may we not take for granted the awesome privilege that God has made available to us through the sacrifice of His Son Jesus that we always gather excited, humbled, filled with joy and great thankfulness, no matter our week or our trials. For God is worthy to be praised and He is worthy only to be praised in spirit and in truth. The next time you gather with the saints in church, even before you arrive, may your heart and your mind be filled with the awe of Who you are about to praise, Who you are about to glorify and what happened on that fateful day just over 2,000 years ago when this veil which was some 30 feet by 60 feet in dimensions and of profound thickness was torn open for all who would worship the true and living God having received Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. Let us always gather with a heart that is thankful and overwhelmed with the goodness of God. Let us worship Him!
