God is on the throne!

In the Book of Revelation John writes to a church under seige, under oppression and violent assault – what does he write?
Rev 19:6..Allelujah: for the Lord God omnipotent reigns!
Did John not know what was happening to the church at this time? Was it because he was isolated on the Isle of Patmos that he thought he would just write some fanciful statement? Not at all for it was God Himself who told John what to write and John was fully aware of the assault that the church was undergoing. So why these words?
There are times with all of us that it looks as though the throne of the universe is empty! We see violence and crime and we don’t see the justice that is supposed to follow. We see lies prosper while truth fades, and evil seems to be in control of the world – the world that God made.
It’s at those times that some wonder as did the writer of Psalm 73, if it is really worth it to trust in God, to try and be obedient to Him as the going is tough and seemingly relentless.
God told John to write those words at that time because God is still on the throne in spite of what we see, hear and feel. John tells us no matter how heavy the burden, look up and say, Allelujah: for the Lord God omnipotent reigns!
Maybe as you read this you are saying its hard to see that truth?  It is true that much that goes on in this world is contrary to His will; but where He does not rule, He overrules, and His purposes are going to be fulfilled.
After all, He is the Lord – the God all powerful!
The prophet Isaiah went through a time when he thought things were gone. The king he loved had died, Uzziah, and Isaiah thought all was lost. But God allowed Isaiah to walk this troubled road in order for Isaiah to take his eyes off of godly king Uzziah and place them on the throne of God. In chapter six of the book bearing Isaiah’s name, Isaiah is given a vision by the Lord and what does he see in the time he thought all was lost? He saw God seated on His throne in all of His glory!
That vision of the throne of God transformed young Isaiah; it made him a new man of faith. Instead of sitting and complaining, Isaiah redicated himself to God and cried out to God for  two things – God to forgive him and God to use him!
May you this day too be given a vision of God’s throne as you seek comfort in God’s holy Word. May you see that God is on the throne and has everything, everything in control! To God be the glory!
