What sort of life do you want to live?
What sort of life do you want to live? This is a question that we all need to actually ponder seriously. As I study God’s precious Word I am overwhelmed by the promises, the power and the purpose that God speaks of and teaches with absolute clarity in the Bible.
The problem is I think most of us accept a life that is starkly opposite to what God has intended for us. Confused?
As I study the life of Job, I see a man, an amazingly godly man, who inspite of the massive losses and distress he suffered grabbed hold of God and elevated himself above his trials and tribulations.
“The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord” (Job 1:21 NKJV). In one day, Job basically lost everything. Anything that could have gone wrong went wrong. Yet he said, “The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.”
The Bible tells us, “In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” (1 Thessalonians 5:18). Notice that it doesn’t say, “Give thanks in the things you personally agree with,” or “Give thanks in the things that are easy for you.” Rather, it says, “In everything give thanks”
This Sunday, determine by God’s Word, His promises, His power and His purpose, stake claim for the godly life you desire to live and live your life in a way that will totally magnify and glorify God. And let heaven reign here on earth in your life – and let nothing take you off the path that God wants to bring blessing to you. Let us too say with Job, The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord. Nothing can stop a life that lives like that!
