If we say we have fellowship with Him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the Truth – 1 John 1:6
We live in a society we there is a massive emphasis on ‘tolerance’. Tolerance to lifestyles, to sexual agendas, to certain behaviours and  so many other matters.
But tolerance and truth cannot walk hand-in-hand. Our society prides itself on its tolerance; the only people who are ‘intolerant’ are those who think that truth rules over opinion and subjective experience, like myself.
It’s amazing that people accept the intolerance of truth in every area other than in spiritual matters. What would the math teacher think of the student who says, “I don’t believe that you can say that 2 plus 2 equals 4. I think we should also consider it equalling 5!”  No, everyone accepts the correct answer is and can only be 4.
You can’t give impressions as your answers to maths tests.
Yet when it comes to God’s Word there is a troubling trend today to have your own “impression” on what it says or means.
God’s Word is truth, and it is narrow, intolerant of error and uncompromising.
When God’s Word is preached, to receive it with the belief that you accept it through the filter of “whatever seems right to you”, mentality then we must also extend the logic to also say that we can tone down God’s Word so as not to offend and make it more acceptable.
The Bible says and teaches us the exact opposite to that mentality. The Bible tells us that it is only the truth that can set people free – John 8:32
Jesus prayed in John 17:17, Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.
God’s Word is truth that we don’t have to defend or water down. May we all reap the heavenly benefit of accepting the truth of God’s Word in our lives and then adjusting our thinking, our actions, our living to encompass and be in sync with this blessed truth.
