How do you hear the Word of God….?

Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour   -

The following is a work sheet from our Wednesday evening Bible study where we have started a new series studying the Parables of Jesus.  For those unable to make to the study at the chapel this work sheet will enable you, after you have listened to the Wednesday evening podcast(4th July 2012), to be able to examine the condition of your hearing and your heart to God’s precious Word.
As Christians we must take care of our spiritual sense of hearing.
We must be aware of only wanting to hear new and sensational things – 2Ti 4:3            For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, [because] they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers;  – as these may turn us away from God’s truth – 2Ti 4:4 and they will turn [their] ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables
 Or even stop up our ears so that we refuse to listen to God’s voice – Act 7:57 Then they cried out with a loud voice, stopped their ears, and ran at him with one accord;
We need the attitude young Samuel had when he said, 1 Samuel 3:10 – “Speak, for Your servant hears.
Remember the admonitions: Take HEED THAT you hear, take HEED WHAT you hear, and take HEED HOW you hear!

Questions for you own time with the Lord:

What is your attitude toward the Word of God?

What is the condition of the soil of your heart?

What fruit has come from your life recently?

Are you sowing the Word patiently, seeking to use discernment and wisdom?

Are you helping others bear fruit?

God’s Word PRODUCES fruit and that fruit has in it the seed for more fruit. The tremendous potential lies in the seed.

The Bible tells us some the samples of this fruit are as follows:
–       winning souls to Christ – Romans 1:13
–       practical holiness – Romans 6:22
–       sharing material things – Romans 15:27
–       Christian character – Galatians 5:22-23
–       good works – Colossians 1:10
–       praise and witness – Hebrews 13:15
May your heart be of fertile soil and may your life be fruitful as you hear and apply God’s Word to your life!
