A Quiet Place…

Back in 1966, Simon and Garfunkel wrote a song called “The Sounds of Silence”. The world since 1966 has changed dramatically. mobile phones, ipods, ipads, itunes, surround sound….!
Have you noticed now as you pass a train station, a bus stop or even people walking along the street, they are plugged into something.
We now live in a world of noise, drama, intensity and our world is now very loud.  Is it no wonder we are so tired, tense, exhausted, stressed and wound tight like coiled springs.
Jesus teaches us about prayer, that is talking with, listening to and being in the presence of God in Matthew’s Gospel chapter 6.
He tells us to be private in our giving, not to be hyprocritical in our prayer life and then He adds a beautiful piece of heaven sent wisdom…But you, when you pray, enter into your closet, and when you have shut the door, pray to your Father in secret; and your Father which sees in secret shall reward you openly….verse 6
It’s time to switch everything off, turn  the mobile phone off, the home phone, put them all on voice mail and  take a deep breath and enter a place in your home, in your yard….somewhere, where you can be alone and listen to nothing but God’s precious heartbeat…..to be close to your heavenly Father and enjoy a time of quiet.
