Nothing Written in Stone?

The world would have us believe that there are no absolutes.
I recently listened to an interview by a local talk show presenter in Perth who said that “surely the Bible and what it says needs to change and keep up with the changing world.”
How do you make decisions, on what do you base your values, what filter do you run your views, opinions, morals, philosophies and view of the world?
One of the biggest problems we find in the church today in Australia is the biblical illiteracy of many of those attending. The BIBLE! It’s where you find the foundation of your faith.
2Ti 3:16 All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Ø Profitable for doctrine – what is right
Ø For reproof – what is not right
Ø For correction – how to get right
Ø And for instruction in righteousness – how to stay right!

When 1000 Australians were quizzed by a recent Nielsen poll.
HOLY BOOK IS LITERALLY TRUE:  The Nielsen poll shows Christians (25 per cent) are far less committed to the literal truth of their text than other religions (50 per cent). Non-believers had a touching – though perhaps ironic – commitment (34 per cent) to the literal truth of texts they believe carry no divine imprimatur.
in Exodus 20: The children of Israel are camped at the base of Mt Sinai waiting , as Moses their leader has gone up to the mountain to meet with God.  On the mountain, God gives to Moses two tablets of stone that have 10 commandments written in stone by God’s own finger. This is absolute TRUTH!
The first 4 commandments deal with our relationship with God – the next 6 as a result of the first four, deal with our relationship with each other.
Jesus gives us a beautiful summary of the 10 commandments in Mark’s Gospel 12:29-31 –Jesus answered him, “The first of all the commandments is: ‘Hear, O Israel, the LORD our God, the LORD is one. 30 And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’  This is the first commandment. 31 And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’  There is no other commandment greater than these.”
Today, you can rest in knowing that there are some things written in stone and these very things we call the ten commandments will give you a blessed foundation of truth for you to rest your life and all its decisions and trials on.
