The Reality of God and His Word
I find it fascinating that when a loved one dies, whether it be by natural death or misadventure, the reality of life, its frailty, its pains, its sorrows and its whys and how comes, cascade over the minds of those who are left.
Even many who would claim some connection to God today do so in a very shallow and stand offish manner. Why? Because the Word of God, the Bible, has been moved aside and now lies neglected as the very means by which we the church come to know the intimacy of God. Ones relationship with God from the Old testament, to the early church,on to the late 1900’s was predicated on the preaching, teaching and reading of God’s Word. Of believing it really is God’s letter to us His children and the very means by which He communicates with each of us.
Hsa 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge,
Due to this tragic neglect of Gods Word and replacing it with man’s wisdom and pop psychology there exists now a complete ignorance of the times in which we live, the coming of Christ for His church and the events prophesied by so many including Daniel, Paul, Peter and Jesus concerning the days (last) in which we now live.
Today, how aware are you of the events currently unfolding in preparation for the return of Jesus Christ both for His church and the judgment He said He would bring on His return to our struggling failing world?
My prayer is that you will pick up that which perhaps you may have neglected, pray, and then open God’s Word and connect again to the very voice and intimate knowledge that it brings as you read it and apply it.
Your life will change dramatically as God by the power of His Holy Spirit speaks and directs your thoughts and everyday existence. In Nehemiah chapter 8 the people of Israel rediscovered God’s Word and it moved them as a people and a nation. I encourage you to read the whole chapter tonight and be blessed by it!
Neh 8:5 And Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the people; (for he was above all the people;) and when he opened it, all the people stood up: Neh 8:8 So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading.
It is this very verse (8) in Nehemiah that Pastor Chuck Smith would instruct us as Calvary Pastors as the model for teaching God’s Word to God’s people the church.
May God give you a hunger to know Him and this be brought about by the reading of His amazing Word, the Bible.
Then you will see the reality of the time in which we live and God’s plan and purpose for your life to serve Him.
You won’t need a tragedy to re adjust to the most important things of life!
