2014 – “The Year of the Sovereignty of God!”
Haggai 1:5 Give careful thought to your ways.
There are some valid reasons why it can be good to make resolutions at the beginning of a new year. Firstly, it forces us to look at ourselves, examine our heart and motives, to be honest about our failures, and our need to change.
This examining, with God’s help, and seeing where we fall short is important.
Secondly, making such resolutions can turn us to God. For if we are honest with ourselves, we know we fall far short of being what we ought to be and because of that, we need and can thankfully call on God’s forgiveness. We all also realize that we can’t live the way we should in our own strength. We need God’s help.
Therefore the theme for Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour 2014 is “The Year of the Sovereignty of God”. This year like never before may we surrender our lives in every aspect to our Lord for Him to have full reign over our lives, our plans, our hopes and our future.
I can think of no better way to head into a new year than to give everything of my life into God’s hands for Him to have and do as He pleases – to God be the glory for our lives in 2014!
