The Cure for Weariness.
Mat 6:6
“But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.
Mat 6:7
“And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words.
It’s Wednesday and weariness is dragging us down as things unexpected have risen and now after dealing with them we are awash with tiredness. How do you deal with such times? Cup of Coco and an early night. Nothing wrong with that.
But there is at times a weariness that is heavier than usual physical exhaustion. You’ve been at the coalface of battle maybe. Or you have been carrying a load for another. What ever is the cause this weariness is a load more than just physical, it is spiritual as well.
As I read the gospels I see that Jesus was both weary physically from helping others but also spiritually as He fought battle after battle with those seeking to attack the kingdom of God.
There is an amazing cure for times such as these. Its simple, but powerful and it works every time!
Its taking that moment in time, however long you need or can steal and being in that private place alone in prayer with God.
Its not based on the time spent, but it is definitely founded on there being some time spent alone with God. It can be in a chair, it can be on your back on the floor, it can be in your yard with the quietness of the breeze. It can be a five minute walk. It can be even whilst having a little one on your knee.
It’s that moment in time when you truly enter the throne of grace and simply rest in your Father’s arms.
And after you have spent that moment, the very power and grace of God is available again for you to serve, to love and to be patient. Take that moment, plan it, seize the opportunity wherever and when ever you can and God will do the rest.
Remember nothing you do for the Lord is ever in vain!
