A last days warning…..
In the series on the Second Coming of Jesus Christ we’ve just completed, we covered many aspects of the future events leading up to, during and after this amazing event prophesied in Scripture.
We looked at the rapture, the events of the Great Tribulation, the Great White Throne Judgment, the Millennium and a new Heaven and new earth.
But there was one thing we did not mention which is a major thread and sign of the last days in which we live, as told by Jesus, by Paul, Jude and Peter.
False prophets, deceivers, religious deception!
Matthew 24:4 Take heed that no MAN deceive you.
Matthew 24:11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive MANY!
Here at Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour we place an enormous emphasis on the teaching of God’s Word book-by-book, chapter-by-chapter and verse-by-verse. This takes discipline and diligence both on the teacher and the hearer. It is this solid teaching through God’s Word that protects us from the philosophies and foolishness of false teachers.
Paul wrote to a young Pastor whose name was Timothy the following words, 1 Tim 1:3 When I left for Macedonia, I urged you to stay there in Ephesus and stop those whose teaching is contrary to the truth. 4 Don’t let them waste their time in endless discussion of myths and spiritual pedigrees. These things only lead to meaningless speculations, which don’t help people live a life of faith in God.
5 The purpose of my instruction is that all believers would be filled with love that comes from a pure heart, a clear conscience, and genuine faith. 6 But some people have missed this whole point. They have turned away from these things and spend their time in meaningless discussions.
In these last days, let us heed God’s word and Christ’s warning.
In Paul’s last letter to this young pastor Timothy, Paul again reminds Timothy, 2 Tim 4:1 I solemnly urge you in the presence of God and Christ Jesus, who will someday judge the living and the dead when he appears to set up his Kingdom: 2 PREACH THE WORD of God. Be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not. Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching.
3 For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. THEY WILL FOLLOW THEIR OWN DESIRES AND WILL LOOK FOR TEACHERS WHO WILL TELL THEM WHATEVER THEIR ITCHING EARS WANT TO HEAR. 4 They will reject the truth and chase after myths.
Let us seize every moment made available here at CCSH to study God’s precious Word!
