Choice or Right?

Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour   -

Listening to talk back radio yesterday, Australia’s Human Rights Commissioner, Mr Tim Wilson, was quoted as saying that the same sex marriage decision in Australia should be treated as a basic human right.
As I listened to that statement I was overwhelmed by the deafening silence from such a person of position on what surely must be the most basic of rights for all humanity, that of the right to live.
The right of the unborn “human” child has never been championed by the Human Rights Commission to my memory and yet in the area of same sex marriage, it has come out strong with stating this is a decision that should not be up for the politicians to decide but should be treated as a human right. That the decision should be passed carte blanche!
I would think that same sex marriage is clearly more a matter of choice than a right. A choice in that you are shunning the original and biblical definition of marriage being between a man and a woman as created by God.
However the innocent child has no choice on the matter of their very own existence. They have no say on their most basic of all human rights, that to be born and to live.
More than 90,000 little human boys and girls each year in Australia are denied the right to live. Is it no wonder that Australia is breaking down morally and spiritually?
So what do we do as Christians living at this time?
We can pray and intercede for our nation Australia, we can repent as Daniel did for the nation Israel in chapter nine of the book bearing his name and we can ask for God to visit this land of ours that has turned into a modern day Sodom and Gomorrah.
Please God, help us, help our nation and protect the most innocent!
