What is the Primary Purpose of the Scriptures?

What is the Primary Purpose of the Scriptures?

John 5:39 You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me.

Jesus from John 5:39-47, claimed that the Old Testament Scriptures are from God and are fulfilled in Him.
Jesus said that in searching the Scriptures with a believing heart you will see they reveal just who Jesus truly is as they tell us all about Him.

So again what is the primary purpose of the Scriptures?

Is it to record the history of God’s dealings with men? It does record such history.
Is it to reveal certain truths to men? Does the word TRUTH seem to make this the right answer? Although it does reveal truths, this is not the primary purpose either.

The primary purpose of Scripture is to point men and women to Jesus Christ.
Has the Bible done this for you? Have you given it the chance to?

For without the knowledge of the Bible there will be no real knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ and without knowledge of Him, no real knowledge of the Father.

The Scripture too is a signpost. Supposed that you and your family were going on a picnic. You pick the spot and start driving toward it. At last you come to a sign that contains the name of the picnic ground. What do you do now? Stop the car and have a picnic around the signpost? No way, you follow the sign to the grounds themselves and have your picnic there. It is the same with the Scriptures!

I pray that you will love to read the Bible and in doing so you your faith will grow and you will come to know who Jesus is in all His glory!
