A labour of love….

A labour of love….
A mature Church labours in love.
There is no such thing as a static Christian, a spectator, a non-combatant, just an attendee in the body of Christ.
Sadly much of what is deemed the church today is much like a show. With performers, orators and special events.
Such gatherings draw a crowd but we are to remember that the church of Jesus Christ is a living organism whose head is Jesus Christ; it’s the family of God that is founded on the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. A community where God alone is worshipped and exalted. A gathering where God’s Word is taught and where sinners saved by the grace of God assemble to fulfill the call of God He has placed on their hearts. It’s also a place of thanksgiving and forgiveness which is powered by the love of God through the work of the Holy Spirit.
Christianity is a work of faith and it produces a labour of love.
It is only logical whenever a person begins to comprehend how much the Lord has done for him or her, he or she cannot help but love the Lord and others.
1 John 3:14 We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loves not his brother abides in death.

Hereby perceive we the love of God, because, He laid down His life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren!

During his visit to the “Boys Town” orphanage in the 1940’s a reporter for LIFE magazine observed a 10-year-old boy carrying a much older boy on his back.
The reporter said to the younger smaller boy “Isn’t he heavy?”
The boy responding said, “He ain’t heavy, he’s my brother!”
These words were later penned in a hit song by the Hollies
THE ROAD IS LONG WITH MANY A WINDING TURN,
THAT LEADS US TO WHO KNOWS WHERE, WHO KNOWS WHERE,
BUT I’M STRONG, STRONG ENOUGH TO CARRY HIM,
HE AIN’T HEAVY… HE’S MY BROTHER,
SO ON WE GO, HIS WELFARE IS MY CONCERN,
NO BURDEN IS HE TO BEAR, WE’LL GET THERE,
FOR I KNOW HE WOULD NOT ENCUMBER ME,
HE AIN’T HEAVY… HE’S MY BROTHER,
IF I’M LADEN AT ALL, I’M LADEN WITH SADNESS,
THAT EV’RYONE’S HEART ISN’T FILLED WITH THE GLADNESS
OF LOVE………………….
FOR ONE ANOTHER,
IT’S A LONG, LONG ROAD FROM WHICH THERE IS NO RETURN,
WHILE WE’RE ON OUR WAY TO THERE, WHY NOT SHARE?
AND THE LOAD DOESN’T WEIGH ME DOWN AT ALL,
HE AIN’T HEAVY… HE’S MY BROTHER.
It is not a burdensome obligation, but a labour of love which says, “God’s been so good to me that I can’t help but carry someone else.”
Paul would later say –
2 Cor 5:14 For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died;
This weekend I pray that you are compelled to serve God in a very powerful manner. That you will be a labourer for God, a living sacrifice and that God will be seen actively in you serving Him for His glory…………because you love Him!
