Decisions reflect who you are!
DECISIONS, REFLECT WHO YOU ARE!
Pro 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; Pro 3:6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. Pro 3:7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and depart from evil.
The way you make your decisions, the paths you select, reveal your values, your interests, your goals.
With every choice there come consequences, good and bad.
If you combine selflessness with godliness you have the right mixture, the right recipe for making good decisions (that is, it’s not about your needs and will but about the Lord’s desire for your life and His plans, His will)
But add selfishness to godlessness, and you have a recipe for disaster and disappointment. (It’s all about what You want and nothing else matters)
What is your value system, the checklist you run by when making decisions, especially major decisions?
The values you use to make your decisions will be the same values your children will use to make theirs!
Jos 24:15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that [were] on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
Mum and dad, what do you desire for your children more than anything else? When your life is over what is the legacy most of all you wish to leave them?
If salvation, serving God, loving God, and living for Him and then going home to heaven are not immediately coming to the for front of your thoughts – your values system is opposite to that which Joshua proclaimed!
Example
Two men who lived in the 19th century, both lived in the same period of time, the same state.
Max Jukes did not believe in Jesus Christ or in raising his children in the way of the Lord. He refused to take his children to church, even when they asked to go. He had 1,026 descendants. 300 were sent to prison for an average term of 13 years; 190 were public prostitutes; 680 alcoholics….
Jonathan Edwards, loved the Lord and saw that his children were in church every Sunday, and he served the Lord to the best of his ability. He had 929 descendants, and of those 430 were ministers of the gospel; 86 became university professors; 13 university presidents; 75 authored good books; 7 were elected to the United States Congress and one was Vice President of the United States.
Let your decisions be those that God has planned for your life and the life of your family – and be blessed!
