Life is so busy…..
Life is so busy….
How many people have you heard tell you how busy their lives are? They tell you there seems to be not enough time in the day to do the things they seek to do.
I agree that life has indeed become busier. Families are so involved in their careers, their sports, their hobbies, their fitness, and the word stress is now a common term used by most.
God has given me the opportunity to be with many people in their last days and some in their last hour here on earth. Not one of them has ever said they wished they had spent more time working. But I have heard many of them wish they had spent more time with their wife, their husband, and their children.
Our lives are busy, but their busyness has been our own doing.
Few families eat their meals together at the dinner table. Children go to their rooms and live in isolation away from their parents who live in the other side of the house – no kids allowed there and likewise no parents allowed in the kid’s rooms.
Why does it require that special ‘news’ phone call from the doctor, or that heartbreaking knock on the door in the early hours of the morning for us to come to a sudden stop in the direction our lives are currently living!
Jesus warned us of such a busyness of life that it would literally choke the LIFE out of our existence leaving nothing at the end of all those years. A life that added up to nothing.
Mat 13:22 The seed that fell among the thorns represents those who hear God’s word, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the worries of this life and the lure of wealth, so no fruit is produced.
We have, over our miss use of time, woven a complex net of strangulation wrapping around our lives until all joy has been suffocated by our own important essential busyness – which has been a result of our own doing.
Pro 14:12 There is a path before each person that seems right, but it ends in death.
When was the last time you had the whole family sitting, eating and talking at your dining table?
When was the last time you sat down and had a discussion with you son or daughter that did not revolve around what they haven’t done, what they should do or giving them a list of instructions?
Do you know their favourite colour? Do you know their greatest fear?
Each and everyone one of us has been given exactly the same amount of time, each week – 168 hours. But sadly the majority of us have never stopped to listen to a small bird in our garden calling out to its family. To notice its fragility and its beauty.
Husbands and wives can you remember your wedding day, how your bride radiated on that day? When was the last time you reminisced over that blessed day?
The Bible tells us that we are all destined to die once and after that comes judgment, Heb 9:27
How much is your busyness robbing you of the time you are missing in the lives of your children? We cannot turn back time.
What legacy are you leaving for your children, what memories?
We have but one shot at this life. God has created you for a purpose and a plan and it actually involves having time for Him, time for your husband / wife and the blessing of seeing your children grow in a home that is built with memories of special moments with one another – getting to really know each others hearts.
It is never too late to change a life that has been loaded with wasted regrets and change it to one where each day you build a blessed memory!
Stop now the busyness in your life and begin to live the way God planned you to live. Don’t let it take a tragedy for you to realise the treasures you have been given. Treasures that each have a heartbeat and long for your company and your love.
Psa 4:7 You have given me greater joy than those who have abundant harvests of grain and new wine.
Psa 16:11 You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence
and the pleasures of living with you forever.
