Gorillas, sharks and humanity?

Gorillas, Sharks…..and humanity?
The news has been overwhelming this week with the story of the shooting of the gorilla at the Cincinnati Zoo USA, and then the catching and killing of the 4.5 metre white pointer shark at Mandurah Western Australia.
I have listened intently to talk the back radio stations covering these stories and watched the other electronic media covering them also.
The one thing I noticed most in both stories was the abundant emphasis, not on the saving of the little 3-year-old boy, or of removing the danger of a shark that had continued to linger at a popular surfing beach.
No the emphasis was not on the saving of human lives but on the death of both the gorilla and the shark.
I have noticed how crimes committed against people, sadly common events these days, do not draw the same public outcry as when an animal has been harmed or killed.
The Bible is clear in its teaching against cruelty to animals – Pro 12:10 A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast:
But like wise it is also clear in it’s teaching that an animal that kills a human is to be put to death.
Exo 21:28 If an ox gore a man or a woman, that they die: then the ox shall be surely stoned, and his flesh shall not be eaten; but the owner of the ox shall be quit.
The comment may be, but the gorilla was still innocent, true, but so too was the little boy still safe and alive at that time. But what was going to happen next?
The same for the shark, how do we know it was the one, true also, but at what risk is a 4.5 metre great white hanging around for days where 20 -30 surfers are constantly in the water?
Man is made in the image of God and that life is to be protected and kept at all costs. In no way shape or form can a gorilla or a shark be considered equal with man.
The prophet Isaiah fore told of a time when our world’s value systems would be turned upside down – Isaiah 5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
We live now in a time when the old, the frail, the unborn and the innocent are now treated with little regard.
Our world has walked away from God’s laws and His commandments and humanity has lost its way!
I pray and thank God each day that He is coming back soon. For our world needs deliverance.
May God bless you as you see others in need and minister God’s grace, kindness and love to them – to the lonely frail old man, to the blessed unborn soon to enter this world.
Gen 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
