Time for change to be seen…
The power of the church…
Church has often been seen in Australia as a place filled with elderly men and women. Children were to be out of the way somewhere colouring in or hearing stories.
The image of the church in the Book of Acts from its infancy was far different to the modern day perception. In the Book of Acts the church was filled with courageous men and women willing to risk their lives and their whole well being because of their faith in Jesus Christ.
Under Roman rule, one day every year everyone was to publicly burn incense unto Caesar and proclaim him as their lord and god. The early church believers did not and could not do this thus many of them were hunted down and killed because of their unwavering faith.
In the year 2016, it is time for Christians throughout Australia to change the aged perception of the frailness of the church. How can we do this?
By living out a very real and devoted Christianity from Monday through to Sunday. A life where we contend for the Word of God, we voice our biblical based opinions on matters in the tearoom, work place and classroom. Where our faith is seen in our behaviour with the evidence of the Holy Spirit being seen in our lives – Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control.
24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
No showmanship, no false religiosity, but plain and committed living for Jesus Christ will change the perception the world has of the church.
The church was created to be the place where the one and true God is worshipped, where His Word is taught, revered and obeyed, and a place where prayer is practiced and seen to be vital in Christian living.
The church is to be a place of power with Jesus Christ Himself being the head and a place where people’s lives can be radically changed by the power found in the forgiveness and grace of God.
This week, start to bring in the change. Live for Jesus Christ!
