Christian Basics Series – Part 1: “Becoming.”

Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour   -

What does it really mean to be a Christian?
This Sunday evening we commence a new series that explores the basics of Christianity. This study identifies the essential elements of the believer’s life, starting first with conversion and then elaborating the manner in which believers are to act out their faith.
This week we consider “Becoming a Christian”. In Luke 5:12-13, a man hopelessly consumed by leprosy was healed by the tender touch of Jesus. Like leprosy, sin corrupts the souls of men and women completely, so that we are alienated from God, hopeless to save ourselves, and in desperate need of rescue. Miraculously, Jesus intervenes!
In weeks ahead we will look at other aspects of our faith under the headings of: “Believing”, “Behaving” & “Belonging”.
At the conclusion of this series, we will understand that to be a Christian is to declare that Jesus is Lord. His Lordship affects both our minds – teaching us what to believe, as well as our morals – changing the way we live. While each follower of Christ has a unique calling, all Christians share the same fixed features of genuine faith.
See you on Sunday the 30th of July from 6.00 p.m. for worship and study in God’s word.
