Love, Live, Fight – Part 8: Diversity
You are invited to join with Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour this Sunday evening from 6.00 p.m. as we continue our series called “Love, Live, Fight” from the New Testament book of Ephesians.
The Australian band The Seekers, released a song called “I Am Australian” that features the following lyrics in the chorus: ‘We are one, but we are many. And from all the lands on earth we come. We’ll share a dream and sing with one voice “I am, you are, we are Australian”. The idea evident in the song is that the people that makeup Australia all contribute to the common identity shared. The message is that each person can benefit the whole.
Last week, Paul’s message to the church from Eph 4:1-7 was to emphasise the importance of Unity. This week, in Eph 4:7-16 he emphasises that this Unity does not mean conformity and that the Diversity of each individual, particularly the gifts bestowed upon them by the Holy Spirit, is to be utilised to benefit and build the whole. Paul speaks of the church being representative of a body, and that just like the body that needs each part to function properly, the church needs the diverse giftings of each member to serve the whole Body of Christ, so that it might reach its fullest potential for the glory of God.
See you on Sunday the 17th of June from 6 p.m. for worship and study in God’s word as we dig into Eph 4:7-16 and consider this important message and continue this series.
