Diary notes – This morning we have a blessed baby dedication! September 1st – our special Father’s Day service. October 20th Sunday evening – a special Q & A with our guest Pastor Ian Toh from Singapore. November 10th – our “Andrew Sunday” service and lunch. We continue to pray for a children’s worship leader for our Sunday school aged children. In the foyer at the information booth will be a sign up sheet for those intending to be part of our Andrew Sunday Outreach – this will assist in ordering the number of Bibles required and for catering purposes.
From the Pastor’s Desk Over the past few weeks there have been a couple of “high profile” names that have publicly declared they no longer have faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. One, an author of a popular Christian dating book, and the other a worship/leader songwriter. Much has been said of their statements in the world of twitter, instagram and face book. When such things happen I go to the place where I will find wisdom, truth and the response we should look for – God’s Word! The Bible tells us that in the Last Days there will be a ‘falling away” from the faith of those who at one time named the name of Jesus in their lives. 2Th 2:3 Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, But equally as important as Paul’s warning would be to us are the Apostle John’s, as he writes to declare to us the reality of what a Christian really is – 1 John 2:19 These people left our churches, but they never really belonged with us; otherwise they would have stayed with us. When they left, it proved that they did not belong with us. But I believe the most important thing for each of us to note at this time is that we are indeed living in the Last Days before the soon return of Jesus Christ. That we as true followers of Christ need to live as Peter warned us at this very time in history – Beloved, I now write to you this second epistle (in both of which I stir up your pure minds by way of reminder), 2 that you may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us, the apostles of the Lord and Savior, 3 knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, 4 and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? beware lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the error of the wicked; 18 but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen. This is such an exciting time to be living as we await the soon return of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ for His church! Are you ready?
