The things we do know…..
Job 1:1 There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was blameless and upright, and one who feared God and shunned evil.
In the book of Job, we read that sad and tragic things happened in his life, not because he was ungodly or godless but because he was godly.
Many people when tragedy strikes begin looking for answers to the why. What did Job do wrong to have such an array of tragic events unfold in his life? All in a single day!
When you read the first chapter of the book bearing his name, it describes what a wonderful man of God Job was. He prayed for his family every day. He cared for them lovingly. God said of Job, Job 1:8 Then the LORD said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil?”
Job was a man who God bragged about!
We don’t know the whys and wherefores when calamities come.
But this we do know – God has a plan, God loves us, and His plan for us is good.
Randy Alcorn writes on the matter, “If we come to see the purpose of the universe as God’s long-term glory rather than our short-term happiness, then we will undergo a critical paradigm shift in tackling the problem of evil and suffering. The world has gone terribly wrong. God is going to fix it. First, for His eternal glory. Second for our eternal God.
If you are going through a trial at this moment, seeking to find the answer to, the why it is happening, this will achieve nothing.
But if we remember the things we do know – Jhn 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. – we can be comforted by the great God of comfort- 2Co 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort,
2Co 1:4 who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
This we do know – God loves us!
