A call to prayer – Covid 19
Pastor Martin Niemöller (1892–1984) was a prominent Lutheran pastor in Germany. He emerged as an outspoken public foe of Adolf Hitler and spent the last seven years of Nazi rule in concentration camps. He is perhaps best remembered for his postwar words,
First they came for the Communists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Communist
Then they came for the Socialists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Socialist
Then they came for the trade unionists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a trade unionist
Then they came for the Jews
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew
Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me
Each time I read these words I am driven to their correlation to Christ’s command for us to watch and pray….
The world is experiencing something (Covid 19), that is creating anxiety, panic and great economic turmoil of which the extent is yet still to be fully revealed.
Each Wednesday we gather to pray here at Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour, and we are still able to do so at the moment according to the latest correspondence in relation to numbers of public gatherings not being over 100.
I want to encourage you to join us this Wednesday at 7:00 pm as we study the first letter of Peter on the topic of the war, that between our old fallen nature and our new nature due to our being born again.
Following this time in the Word we will pray for our church, the community and our nation.
I am sure you will agree with me that now is a time for a call to prayer!
The world has lost its way, it doesn’t know what’s true or false, and it is in fear of its life.
Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life.”
This is a time for the church to be what Christ intended it to be – a place of love, power and prayer.
Join us and be part of the mission to our world which is in desperate need of Jesus Christ.
