This Week at Calvary
We have seen a significant increase in the number of people taking advantage of our live streaming services since its commencement. We continue to encourage you to invite as many people as you are able to join you in being part of the services here at CCSH, even though social distancing and gathering together restraints are in place. Many people have expressed the freedom to attend our services during this time. SMS, email, phone, face time as many people as you are able and let us see this time as an open door to see lives changed and souls saved by our Lord Jesus Christ! Be sure to pray with us this Wednesday evening. Your prayers are needed as we continue through this Covid 19 experience. Today we begin a new series in the book of Hebrews as we discover in detail just who Jesus Christ is and how superior He is to everything. Don’t miss Pastor Marlon tonight at 6:00pm as he teaches us through the book of James.
From the Pastor’s Desk –
What giants are you facing this week? The giant of worry having lost your job? The giant of the pull of the world on your life away from Christ? The giant of fear for the future? A broken relationship? Or family conflict? Goliath had David, out sized and out armed! Goliath was an experienced soldier, a great warrior. David’s only weapon was a slingshot and some stones – but also a deep dependence on God – it was this that would give David the victory! Everyone has problems, and Jesus Christ wants to help you face yours – if you will let Him! 1Sa 17:45 Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.
Helen’s Heart
WHATEVER IS TRUE AND HONOURABLE, WHATEVER IS RIGHT, WHATEVER IS PURE, WHATEVER IS LOVELY, WHATEVER IS OF GOOD REPUTE…DWELL ON THESE THINGS. Phil 4:8 During these uncertain times it is paramount you change your mind and emotions each day.
It is good to see how as a society generally we have moved from selfishly taking and hoarding to one where people are giving and considering those around them. Most of us are enjoying clips of people dressing to the nines to take their bins out and delighting in seeing young children social distancing and greeting imaginary people along the way. Good humour -medicine for the soul. But as Christians we can take things further -refuse to grumble, refuse to criticise and complain. When we fix our minds on that which is right and pure, instead of things carnal, smutty and obscene: When we build up our lives with these right thoughts -we cause His grace to flow through us and bring a sweet fragrance of hope this world is craving. Continue to pray for those in authority to make right and honourable decisions, so we can soon be on the path to recovery. God Bless Helen
