This Week at Calvary
We celebrate not only the resurrection of Jesus Christ this Easter Sunday morning, but also as the body of Christ today we share communion. With the adaption of services now to the livestreaming media, we want to continue to encourage you to SMS, email and contact by Facebook as many contacts you have and invite them to join with you by watching our services throughout the week. It’s a tremendous opportunity for people to hear the word of God and enjoy the worship of our Lord whilst they are still in their own residence. In addition, we would ask that you join our prayer team by praying for the lost to be saved during this very different time of church. Ladies we have just prepared a special teaching for you with Helen sharing some vital information to you during these unprecedented times. It will be available this week on our church website.
From the Pastor’s Desk –
As we remember this time of Christ’s amazing loving sacrifice upon the cross at Calvary for each and every one of us, it’s also a time to remember that it is the Law that reveals to us our need for the cross to be saved. The Bible says all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God – Rom 3:23. The Ten Commandments are a mirror to show us how far short we fall in meeting God’s standards. And the mirror of our shortcomings drives us to the cross, where Jesus Christ paid the debt for our sin. Forgiveness is found at the cross and in no other place! We have the Law to show us we need God’s love. But Jesus death on the cross atoned for our law breaking. When we preach atonement, it is atonement planned by God’s love for us, provided by His love for us, given His love for us, finished by His love for us, necessitated by His love for us. When we preach the resurrection this Easter Sunday 2020, of Jesus Christ, we are preaching the miracle of God’s love. When we preach the return of Jesus Christ, we are preaching the fulfilment of His love for us. The answer to our problem of lawbreaking is ultimately God’s love for us! Praise the Lord!
