It’s time to win the war!

Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour   -

What is a war?
War is defined as an active conflict that has claimed more than 1,000 lives.
Has the world ever been at peace?
Of the past 3,400 years, humans have been entirely at peace for 268 of them, or just 8 percent of recorded history.
That amounts to nearly 13 years of war for every year without war!
But there is another war, another struggle that has been going since the fall of man in the Garden of Eden. This war you all know very personally.
It’s the war between your old nature, the Bible calls the flesh, and the Spirit of God now dwelling in those who are followers of Jesus Christ.
The Bible tells us as followers of Christ we are soldiers, 2Ti 2:3 You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
Our old nature is like the pig and the raven, always looking for something unclean on which to feed. Our new nature is like the sheep and the dove, yearning for that which is clean and holy.
The unsaved man knows nothing of this battle because he does not have the Holy Spirit – Rom 8:9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.
The Bible tells us we have an enemy, Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
The Bible also says we are at war within our very own flesh and spirit, Gal 5:17 – The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions
Dietrich Bonhoeffer said, “When all is said and done, the life of faith is nothing if not an unending struggle of the spirit with every available weapon against the flesh.”
How is your war going? Are you winning the battles? Are you losing the war?
Too often we find Christians living in constant defeat, under the oppression of the evil one, losing ground, and losing the battle.
I invite you and your family to join with us Wednesday evening at 7:00pm as the Bible teaches us how to win the war that we all are fighting! We want to pray with you Wednesday, as we gather live-streaming on line via facebook, Vimeo and our webpage ccsh.com
We hear of more people losing their jobs and struggling with the fallout of the Corona virus.
We want to remind you, that you are not alone, besides the family of God praying for you and supporting you, let us never forget that our Heavenly Father desires us to call on Him in our time of trouble.
Hebrews 4:14 Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
When God’s people are struggling it is time to call upon He who loves us and has the power to calm the storms and waves of anxiety and fear that are attempting to sink us.
Call on Him and He will answer you – join us Wednesday evening – the war is won!
