This Week at Calvary
We gather around the Lord’s Table of Thanksgiving this morning and we remember the promises of the new covenant in which Jesus blood was shed for many for the remission of sins. As you gather in your homes, we pray that you will share communion with us even though we are not able to gather together physically. It’s a perfect opportunity to especially teach the children the full significance of the communion service and why we continue to practice it. Pastor Marlon will be teaching from the blessed book of James tonight along with a time of worship beginning at 6:00pm. This Wednesday night please join us again for a time of prayer and part 2 of the marriage series from 1 Peter, this time we are speaking to husbands! The prayer team and prayer support ministry continues to grow strong during this time and we encourage you to be part of the prayer ministry here at CCSH. See the links and information on our web page. Please continue to invite family, friends and people God leads you to, to log into our livestreaming services. This is a great opportunity for the Word of God to touch many people’s lives even though we are in a world pandemic.
From the Pastor’s Desk –
This Sunday morning’s message from the book of Hebrews is one that I pray we each will desire to delve into the text a little more after the teaching as well. Hebrews is a book where the writer issues a challenge to its readers to mature and grow even more in their understanding and knowledge of all that God is and what He has done for us. Hebrews 5:1 Although by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the basic principles of God’s revelation again. You need milk, not solid food. Much of today’s modern preaching focuses primarily on a man-based theology. In other words, meeting people’s needs. That in and of itself is not wrong. However, it’s come at the detriment of teaching that is focused on God – in other words us learning more about God and growing in our knowledge of who He is and all that He has done and can do. The writer of Hebrews is encouraging us to put on our “big boy pants” now and become mature believers with a far greater capacity to know God and to get our teeth into more “meatier” aspects of the amazing wonder of, just who our God is! So, I pray today you will take notes, read more and ask the Holy Spirit to help you to grow in your knowledge and wonder of the one true God. He is truly amazing!
