From the Pastors Desk
What happens when the heat is on? This week we have had a fairly old-fashioned summer heat wave. As a child I remember such times and yet no one back then took much notice of them but just took them as a normal Australian summer. Rarely were any houses air conditioned, many houses were made of asbestos! No cars with air con and it was just hot! People slept outside on mattresses on their backyard lawns, or children laid down on the cool ‘lino’ floors. During the day people sat outside under the shade of the backyard tree. But now very few cars are non-airconditioned, and most houses either have fans, evap., a split system or ducted air conditioning. Things have changed! Now when we have a power blackout our modern world is thrown back into the past. It’s a reminder to us as followers of Christ that our faith will always be tested. Smooth paths will have detours and potholes that we weren’t expecting. It is at such times that our faith and our walk with Christ is tested once again. How can we make sure that we don’t fall apart when we have a ‘blackout’? It is at such times that our everyday disciplines as followers of Christ, come to our rescue. Our daily reading of God’s Word, our devotional times alone with God seeking Him and asking for His help, our fellowship with the church. Each of these keep our lives strong in the times when we are thrown into the dark. I pray that this year, 2021, you would build up your back up generators in the Lord, to ensure that times of darkness will never overwhelm you.

Calvary Calendar – 2021
No mid-week meeting this week but back to normal the following week for prayer and the Word, with our series in 2 Corinthians.

1Co 7:7 For I wish that all men were even as I myself. But each one has his own gift from God, one in this manner and another in that.
What gift has God given to you that you may bless the church here at Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour? There are many ministry opportunities here at CCSH. Seek the Lord and serve in the gifting that God has given you this 2021. See any of the Elders, Reece De Jonge or Richard Austin or our Deacon, Thomas Woodage, for further information as to how we can bring this to pass.

Helen’s Heart – You O Lord are a shield about me, my glory and the one who lifts my head Psalm 3:3
One thing we need to be this year is gentle on ourselves. We pay out on ourselves so much and so much of it is unnecessary. We fear life far more than we should and it is destructive. Fear takes away hope, vision, and power to overcome. What may this year bring …uncertainty with our work, an unplanned pregnancy, an unwanted doctor’s appointment or test result?? Let us replace our fear with trust. Look at life through our Saviour’s eyes and stop running scared. God is not the author of uncertainty. Our hope in Him is sure and steadfast. Let Him be that shield around your life. Our women’s ministry will be commencing in 2 weeks time-looking forward to those precious times of fellowship around God’s word.

Prayer – Join us as we pray each Sunday morning at 9:30 am for the Lord’s blessing and protection over all our services and His ministries here at CCSH. In particular commit your time to pray here Wednesday’s at 7:00PM. (No prayer no power) We continue to receive prayers requests to our web page form people asking us to pray for their situation – what a blessed ministry opportunity this is! Prayer commences again, 20th January here at the chapel. Book it in your diary – an appointment with God!

Tithes and Offerings..We don’t take an offering here at CCSH, but we do give a grace offering to our Lord of our first fruits. The offering box is at the back of the hall near the prayer box. 2 Cor 9:7..Every man according as he purposes in his heart, so let him give not grudgingly, or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.
