Mat 6:25 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?

Does this mean that we should live our lives recklessly? Certainly not.

No, the word “thought” implies anxious thought or worry. The word “worry” literally means to “strangle”. So, if you are worried about what you are wearing or eating, about what you have or don’t have materially, your personality will be all tied up in knots and strangled.

It does not take much to strangle us. We find even minor things worry us and sometimes destroy us. I recently read that it takes 60 trillion droplets of fog to cover seven city blocks.

This amount of fog is enough to close down an airport or bring traffic to a dangerous situation. Yet if you condensed those 6o trillion fog droplets, you would only have enough water to fill half a standard glass with water.

This is such a perfect picture of what worry is all about. You begin with something little – only half a glass of water – but you start thinking about it, wrestling with it, wondering, “How is this mess going to work out?” “How are we going to make it through this?”

Pretty soon, you are unable to see straight, and your ‘airport’ is shut down.

You are not hearing from the Lord, and you are not soaring with the Lord as you once did because you are all fogged in!

This is why Jesus said, “Do not take any anxious thought whatsoever – be anxious for nothing.”

Today, don’t let worry strangle you. Don’t let your life end up in a fog.

God is with you, call on His name and turn that fog into a prayer and let the Lord clear your path. Let Him lead you as the Good Shepherd, to still waters.

The fog will lift, and you will see His mercy and grace change your day, bringing clarity and praise and you will begin to breathe easier instead of gasping for air.
