He was wounded for our transgression – Isaiah 53:5

Jesus’ life began in the middle of persecution and peril.

He arrived on a mission of love and mercy, sent by His Father.

It was an angel that announced His conception and gave Mary the name the child was to be called – Jesus. The heavenly host sang to the shepherds watching their flock by night a glorious anthem at Christ’s birth.

God sent a star to shine to broadcast His coming – Jesus was the most illustrious child ever born. He is the holy child of Mary, the divine Son of God.

But no sooner did Jesus enter our world than Herod decreed His death and gave orders to see it come to pass. Joseph warned in a dream of this threat, took Mary and the baby Jesus to Egypt until Herod’s death finally made it safe for them to return.

The Son of the eternal Father, He entered our world, assumed our human nature with all its infirmities and weakness, including the capacity to suffer.

Jesus came as a child of the poorest parents. His entire life was one long pathway of humiliation.

Now He is seated in Heaven at the right hand of His Father, no longer limited by time or space.

Soon He will come again – this time in glory – to take us to Himself!
