“May the God of hope fill you with all joy.” – Romans 15:13
I saw it advertised on television as the latest toy sensation that every child must-have. The advert looked terrific as this new “frisbee” flying disc hovered and sailed through the air like a spaceship. I had to have one, but the cost was forty shillings. That was a lot of money at the time.
Somehow my parents relented, plus I was able to raise money by returning empty cool drink bottles back to the corner store for the refund of three pence per bottle.
What a letdown, however, when I bought my brand-new plastic red frisbee. It was just a piece of plastic in reality and looked nothing like the flying saucer I thought I saw on TV.
How often have you found what you were looking for in life, only to realize it didn’t bring you the satisfaction you thought it would?
Thinking we will find fulfilment in the things of the world always falls flat. We seem always to want a little more than we currently have to be happy!
We look for love, security, and happiness through our work, our possessions and our relationships. But if they brought lasting joy, we would not have a world still full of emptiness, discontent and hopelessness.
Give Jesus Christ first place in your life, and you will see your life change. You will discover that He alone is the source of the love, peace and joy you have been searching for all along!
