The Jewish people, as a nation, had not received the gospel. They had rejected the Christ. Paul knew that and it broke his heart. If the Jewish nation will not accept Jesus as Messiah, then the unbelieving Jew would say that there are two possible conclusions to be drawn. Either the gospel that Paul is preaching is not true, or else, if it is true, then the promises of God to Israel have failed, because the Messiah and blessing to Israel were connected inseparably. The Jew would say in essence, that, either Jesus Christ is not the true Messiah, or the Word of God has proven false. Paul deals with this problem in the next 3 chapters of Romans. Romans 9, admits to the fact that the Jewish nation has not received the gospel, but it also declares that the Word of God has not failed! Why? Because some Jews have believed. Romans 10, carries the argument further and lays the blame on Israel. Paul says if Israel as a nation has been set aside, it is through no fault of God. The reason God has rejected Israel is because Israel rejected the gospel. Romans 11, Paul tells us that although the nation of Israel has been set aside, and although that rejection of them as a nation has been rightly just (because they rejected the gospel), the rejection of Israel as a nation is NOT final! God is working out a mighty, loving and gracious purpose. Let us never forget that by the rejection of Israel as a nation, salvation has been brought first of all to the Gentiles – you and I. As Christians, God has placed a love in our hearts for His people Israel. Whenever we visit the Holy Land, our hearts are overwhelmed with a love for the children of Abraham. The Bible commands us to pray for them and as we read ahead, we know that they will turn to Christ and finally receive Him as their Messiah. Zec 8:3 “Thus says the LORD:‘I will return to Zion, And dwell in the midst of Jerusalem. Jerusalem shall be called the City of Truth, The Mountain of the LORD of hosts, The Holy Mountain.’”
Helen’s Heart
“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord and he delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down, for the Lord upholds him with his hand.” Psalm 37:23-24 – God always guides us as He shines His light on our path and makes the way clear. We just need to yield our hearts and trust and follow Him. His blessings and strength will give us hope and a glorious and sure future – “You will show me the path of life.” Psalm 16:11
Tithes and Offerings we provide a grace offering container at the left rear of the chapel for your grace-giving or you can give electronically via the following information. CCSH Account number: 2490144 & BSB: 306089. Our greatest encouragement for giving is that it pleases the Lord. Let us remember that God was unsparing in His giving – Proverbs 3: 9 Honor the LORD with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce. 10 Then he will fill your barns with grain, and your vats will overflow with good wine.
Calvary Kids – Bible knowledge test:

Sunday School Graduation
Is your child ready to graduate from Sunday school? Are they ready to sit with you and learn with you in the main sanctuary? If so please see one of the pastors and we will arrange their graduation.
Once the service has commenced, especially the teaching of the Word of God, we ask that you remain seated so as not to be distraction to others during this most important time. Should you need to leave your seat the ushers on your return will direct you to a seat at the rear of the church – thank you.
