Pastor Keith   -

Direct me in the path of your commands, for there I find delight – Psalm 119:35.

The Bible teaches that a person is more than just a body – each one of us has a living soul. The Bible tells us we have been created in the image of God – this is an amazing truth and something that I have come to appreciate more as I have grown in years.
When I look at a child, there before us is the image of God, but so too when I see someone whose life has become a twisted piece of human wreckage savaged by sin, I am often even more captured by the truth that they too were created …in the image of God. However, they have no concept of this truth at this time, sadly, in their own broken lives.

God has implanted in each of us His own nature. Just as our bodies have specific characteristics and appetites, so do our souls.

The features of the soul include intelligence, emotions, and will.

Every human soul or spirit longs for peace, contentment, and happiness.

But most of all, our soul has an appetite for God – an authentic yearning to be reconciled to our Heavenly Father, our Creator and to have a relationship with Him forever!

Sadly today, most people give most if not all their attention to satisfying the body’s appetites and practically none to the soul. As a result, we become one-sided. We become overweight physically and materially, whilst spiritually we are lean, malnourished and anaemic.

The soul demands as much attention as the body. It requires fellowship and communion with our Heavenly Father. It demands worship, quietness and meditation.

Nothing but God ever wholly satisfies because the soul was made for God – your soul!

Don’t starve your soul and have no life – today, take time to be alone with God. The one in whose image you are made.

There you will find true delight and the blessed bonus of heavenly peace.
