Psalm 32:1 Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, Whose sin is covered.
Psa 32:2 Blessed is the man to whom the LORD does not impute iniquity,
Being forgiven by God is surely one of the most amazing events in our lives! A very sensitive young boy joined the British Army in the eighteenth century. But in the heat of battle, when shots were fired, he deserted.
Years later, he had become a great astronomer, even to the point of discovering a new planet. King George sent for the man, and he arrived before the king, fearful that the king would order his execution for his previous desertion.
But on his arrival the man was given an envelope – and inside the envelope was a royal pardon! The king said, “Now we can talk, and you shall come up and live at Windsor Castle.” The man’s name was Sir William Herschel.
Herschel was guilty and deserved condemnation. But King George had mercy on him, and even made him a member of the royal household!
This is what God promises us. We each are guilty and helpless. But God loves us, and “He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy.”
Titus 3:5 …He saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit.
Let us never forget this amazing pardon we have received.
John 3:17 “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
