This morning – As we gather this morning let our hearts be prayerfully engaged for our brothers and sisters in Afghanistan who are in need of our prayers as they are being hunted down by the Taliban. Take a moment with someone this morning and join them in prayer for the safety of the Body of Christ in Afghanistan. We continue to also pray for the East Coast of our nation for protection of lives from the growing Covid crisis! Thank you to those who came forward to serve as teachers for our growing Sunday school! Father’s Day service – Sunday the 5th of September – be praying for dads, grandads, and stepdads you can invite to the day we celebrate the blessing of fathers. You can connect with the body of Christ here by joining our 24/7 prayer team – see Marty Le Chat for more information or one of our ushers. We encourage you to join with us as we pray corporately here each Wednesday at 7:00pm. Ladies, don’t miss our Women’s Study and Fellowship here this Tuesday at 9:30am – invite a friend. Also at the information desk you can gather the question information and discussion notes for this coming Tuesday’s ladies study. Each one of us is skilled in some capacity. We therefore encourage you to apply those God given skills to serve here at CCSH. Fill in a Connection card from our information desk and place it in our offering box and let your ministry begin. Calvary Men – its bonfire fellowship time this Friday. Don’t miss this time to gather with other men of God.
From the Pastor’s Desk – Remember the story of the Good Samaritan? It’s found in Luke’s Gospel chapter 10. It is one of the favourite Sunday school stories of all time. Everyone always identifies themselves with the “certain Samaritan” who was the only one to stop and help the poor man who had been robbed, beaten and left injured by the side of the road. No one ever identifies with the ‘certain priest or Levite’ that did not bother to help the poor victim of the violent robbery. But is this true in our own lives? Right now, Afghanistan is in great need with the threat of violence and death many Christians are facing right now. No, we cannot physically go there! But as Christians, we certainly can pray, we can set our hearts in earnest before Almighty God and call on Him to do a miraculous work in that troubled land. The Samaritan who helped the poor beaten robbed man; Jesus tells us had compassion on him. Let our hearts be moved with compassion and let us pray. Let us do what Christians do. The Good Samaritan it says, said whatever the cost, provide it to the poor man and I will meet whatever is owed. Let’s pray and today be just like that Good Samaritan!
Grace Giving – We have a container at the left rear of the chapel for your grace-giving, or you can give electronically via the following information. CCSH Account number: 2490144 & BSB: 306089. Our greatest encouragement for giving is that it pleases the Lord. Let us remember that God was unsparing in His giving Proverbs 3:9 Honor the LORD with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce. 10 Then he will fill your barns with grain, and your vats will overflow with good wine..
Update from Pastor Charles in Calvary Chapel Nasinu – Fiji – Pastor Charles reports that Fiji and CC Nasinu are still in lockdown due to Covid. They are using Facebook live to stream their teaching out through the community during this time. Sunday morning’s they are teaching through Philippians and Wed Bible study through the Gospel of Mark. Many from the Church have lost their jobs due to Covid so the Church is providing essentials via our $500 per month offering to them. We will be mailing our old pew Bibles over to them for the house Church to utilise once out of lockdown. Despite the difficulties, they are going through, they are joyous in Christ and look forward to the day when we can visit with them in preaching the gospel in Fiji. They are very excited that we are praying for them during this time.
