Daily devotion – Tuesday 3rd August 2021
Deu 30:19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
If God was to remove every ounce of evil from our planet (but still leave humans on the earth), it would mean that we would become robotic!
What do I mean? If God eliminated evil by hardwiring us to perform only good things, we would lose this most distinguishing mark – the ability to make choices. We would no longer be free moral agents. Thus, our identification with being robots!
Let us take this even one step further – robots do not love.
God made us with the ability to love. Love is based upon one’s right to choose to love. We cannot force others to love us. Love is based upon one’s freedom to choose to respond!
Now, given the choice, I would rather be responsible for my actions than be a robot without responsibility.
