Romans 8: 37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

When adversity strikes us there are two ways to respond. You can be discouraged or trusting.

The problem with giving in to discouragement is that it only makes things worse! For with it may come bitterness, anger, jealousy or even the desire for revenge.

Some may try to escape adversity through substance abuse. To attempt to dull the pain or simply try to drown it out. But this does not solve the problem of adversity.

God has a better way, that being the path of trust. Sometimes God may show us that we were in the wrong thus bringing adversity upon ourselves. When this is the case, we need to come before Him and confess our sin and repent – and His forgiveness we will receive.

Other times, we can only accept what is happening and ask God to help us endure during this time and enable us to triumph over it!

When adversity strikes, in the middle of the turmoil, be encouraged to praise God. Not for what is happening, but for who He is and the trust you have in Him to see you through!

In addition, turn to the Bible and there you will find encouragement, particularly in the Psalms.

In Psalm 103: 2, the Psalmist writes, Blessed be the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits!

This is the example we too should follow. A life of trust in the Lord God Almighty will never be shaken!

Please keep praying for our brothers ands sisters in Christ in Afghanistan. They are being hunted down at this moment by the Taliban.
