“Casting all your cares upon Him, for He cares for you.” – 1 Peter 5:7
We are unique creatures made in the image of God. Since the fall of man in the Garden of Eden, we have had to sweat and strain in this fallen world continually.
One can have food to eat, clothing to wear, a place to sleep yet be carrying a load of burdens that at times seem as if they will bring us to our end.
You can even be attempting to sleep, and your mind is full of issues swirling around in your head leading you to wake up the next day seemingly carrying the weight of the world.
But God in His precious Word knows that our framework is such and through the Apostle Peter gave us these beautiful words about casting our cares upon God at such times.
The French translation of this verse is wonderful – it says – “Unload your distresses upon God.”
I remember building a supporting wall out of railway sleepers in the garden, they each weighed a great deal. Having to pick them up one at a time and carry them to the place where they would fit into a retaining wall was quite an ordeal. But the joy at taking them off my shoulder was amazing!
Like one of those huge prime movers, we often see on our country roads carrying massive machinery or trucks for the iron ore mines. They slowly make their way on their long journey crawling up the steep hills as they go in the very first gear straining under the load. But when you see these prime movers without anything being towed behind them, having dropped their load, they speed along like giant sports cars.
You and I were never meant to be crushed under the weight of care – we are just not built fort that. We can push the button of faith, or pull the lever of trust, release our load that we are carrying and discharge it upon the shoulder of Him who said He would gladly bear it.
Today, now, unload the anxieties of the present day upon Him, for He cares for you. If He loved you enough to take away the burden of your sins, can’t you trust Him to take away every lesser burden as well.
Bless you.
