Daily devotion – God is always speaking…

Pastor Keith   -

Phl 2:5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,

God is always speaking to you – but for many they cannot hear Him above the noise of the world!

We live in a noisy world, where never before have we as dwellers on this planet, had more things stuck in our ears. We are the first ones to walk around with headphones fixed on our heads, then we went to ear phones and now we have air buds.

Take a trip on any mode of transport whether it be bus train or plane and you will see the majority of people have noise pumping into their ears.

The world we live in is constantly flooding our listening ears with advertisements, its mundane conversations, and its philosophy – could it be that we are engaged in a massive brainwashing?

Not always consciously but sometimes unconsciously, the Christian is beset by secular and worldly propaganda, telling us to live for ourselves, to put ourselves first in everything and to seek selfish pleasures ahead of God.

Our minds end up connecting to the world’s bursting sewage system of immorality, hedonism, and rebellion.

But there is hope for above the din we can still hear the voice of God through His Word – Rom 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Time yourself this week, the next time you read the Bible and pray. Compare it to the amount of time you spend – watching television, surfing the net. Is God getting His share of your time and attention?

Is the world shaping your mind – or is Jesus Christ?
