Daily devotion – In the beginning…
The very first verse of the Bible tells me so much and I love reading it and saying it out loud – “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” – Genesis 1:1
This Sunday we will be teaching through 3 parables in Luke’s Gospel chapter 15 that really have one message – repeated three times.
God found us, He sought us out, and even though we were lost and living away from Him in our own sin, when He rescued us – He rejoiced!
The Bible is the wonderful story of the one true God who loves us so much. He is all powerful God, He is all mighty God, He is the holy God and yet somehow, He thinks the world of us.
Each time I read that first verse, my heart knows it is the beginning of the Greatest Story ever told – of how almighty God moved mountains, shaped history, planned to the finest detail a way in which I and you could have an intimate relationship with Him, even though I am an undeserving sinner lost in my own selfishness and rebellion.
He made a way that I could spend eternity with Him, and it took His Son to become a man to die in my place for my shame and sin, to do it.
Every time I read that first verse in Genesis – my mind and my thoughts are captured with the events that followed that first line in the Bible, to bring me into His kingdom in order that I would be able to see Him face to face one day in glory!
Is it no wonder that when the prophet Isaiah saw the Lord seated on His throne in all His glory, that the prophet was so overcome with God’s omnipotence and His holiness?
Knowing Jesus Christ as your Lord and saviour is the greatest event that could ever occur in anyone’s life and it is this amazing miracle that will forever fill our hearts with praise and thanksgiving of Him forever – amen!
