Daily devotion – In the heat of the Battle
When life becomes a struggle what do we do? Things are said and things are done and more hurt and pain are suffered by all.
The Bible reminds us that we are living in a fallen world. A world that has sin running through every vein and because of this we live in a battlefield.
The Bible reminds us of this in Paul’s letter to the Church in Ephesus – For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:12
When we are going through such difficult times, Christ’s death on the Cross and His Resurrection, are where we need to place our feet in the midst of the battle. For this very reason Jesus came to save us from our sin, and strengthen us to overcome the battle we find ourselves in.
The true test of our faith is at such times of struggle. We pray because we trust in faith that God will hear our prayers and help us in this time of need. In addition, we go to His Word, the Bible, and it is here that God will speak to us in answer to our prayers. To give us wisdom, to guide our thoughts, to seek His forgiveness, to be healed of our pain.
This is the very life of a Christian – as we each day journey through the events that rise up before us.
But the best is yet to come! For when we go to the Lord in prayer, when we look to His Word for guidance, instruction and wisdom, it is then that we can with confidence know that we will prevail in the heat of Battle because Jesus is Lord.
Jesus did not die on the Cross and rise from the dead for us to be defeated in struggles. No, His victory over our greatest enemy, death, reveals to us that nothing can separate us from His love nor His power.
Be strong today in the Lord and take your battle and lay it at His feet – and wait for His wisdom and His healing hand to bring you victory.
1Co 15:57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
