Daily devotion – Peace

Peace

“I will give you assured peace in this place.” – Jeremiah 14:13

Vance Havner said of worry, “Worry is like sitting in a rocking chair. It will give your something to do, but it won’t get you anywhere.” Worry and anxiety are very much a part of our modern world and simply now accepted as what we do. Man has surrendered to such and wrestles with it each day. Today even kids worry!

What is the answer? Imagine in your mind a ferocious ocean storm beating against a jagged rocky shore. The thunder rumbles and the lightning flashes and the waves pound the shore.

But for a moment, imagine that you see a crevice in the rocky cliff – and inside that small space sits a little bird, its head serenely tucked under its wing, fast asleep.

It knows the rock will protect it, and so it sleeps in complete peace.

God promised Moses, “I will put you in the cleft of the rock and will cover you with My hand.” – Exodus 33:22. That is God’s promise to each of us!

Jesus Christ is our Rock, and we are secure in His hands forever. The storms may rage, but at each time, our hearts can be at rest.

May you find rest in Him today!
