Daily devotion – Just as God said…
Luke 2:16 And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.
Just as God said….
After the greatest carols by ‘angel light’ in history on the fields of Bethlehem, the shepherds hurried off to find this baby, He would be born King, as quickly as their legs could take them.
Arriving in the village after a short run, there in a cave, utilised by the inn owner to store all the animals, lying in a manger…wrapped in strips of cloth (swaddling cloths) just as the angels had said, lay the Son of God!
Everything happened just as God said it would:
1. A virgin, young Mary would be pregnant without having been with a man but by being ‘overshadowed’ by the Holy Spirit. (Isaiah)
2. The birth of the Messiah would occur in a little town by the name of Bethlehem. (Micah)
3. A Saviour would come born of a woman. (Genesis)
From Bethlehem Jesus would spend some time in Egypt, then grow up in a little village called Nazareth. Just as God said!
He would ride into Jerusalem riding on a colt, be arrested, crucified, and buried. And on the third day rise from the dead. Just as God said!
He would ascend into Heaven and the angels would tell the disciples as they watched that this same Jesus would return.
Now, Christmas 2021, we wait for Christ’s soon return. For He will come to call His Church home to be with Him and we can be sure this too will happen, just as God said!
Finally, Christmas 2021, don’t forget, Christ removed all your sins and has made you clean and righteous in Him, because He said He would do this as well by His death on the Cross.
Yes, everything happened just as God said…. Amen!
