Daily devotion – new series in Joshua
In 2022, we will begin a new study in the Book of Joshua. It’s a book that gives an account of war, slaughter, and conquest. Why should anybody today study this book? Besides it being part of inspired Holy Scripture there is more, much more.
The Book of Joshua is a book of new beginnings for the people of God, and many a believer today need a new beginning. The practical message about Joshua is that God keeps His promises and enables His servants to succeed if they will trust Him.
But most importantly it meets the greatest need of the modern Church today – the need for God’s people to realise how much they are missing by wandering in unbelief, or by living on the borderline of the blessing and then to claim God’s promises and enter into their spiritual inheritance.
Many people in Church today are a deprived people. Not deprived in a worldly senses but deprived spiritually because they have failed to claim their spiritual riches!
Thus they live as defeated people because they have failed to trust our Joshua – Jesus – to lead us to victory.
Too many of us are like Achan, stealing from God, when we ought to be like Caleb, claiming the mountains in Jesus name and overcoming the giants.
